The Royal Navy is the United Kingdom's naval force and the oldest of its armed services. Its fighting arms are the surface fleet, the submarine service, the Fleet Air Arm and the Royal Marines. The fleet includes two aircraft carriers, the submarines carry the UK's nuclear deterrent, and the civilian-crewed Royal Fleet Auxiliary supports the navy at sea.
The navy traces its origins to the English fleet of Henry VIII and takes 1546 as its founding date. It is run from Navy Command in Portsmouth, and together with the Royal Marines it has around 32,000 regular personnel. Officers train at Britannia Royal Naval College in Dartmouth, and ratings at HMS Raleigh in Cornwall.

Good. Sometimes the explanation is a bit short for the harder questions but you can usually work it out from the steps given.

DB numerical
Deutsche Bank numerical test passed. The practice tests here are a close match in difficulty and the timer got me used to the pace. Reports after each test are detailed.
Sana
Best numerical practice ive found and I tried 3 sites. The solutions show the quickest method not just the correct one.

BMW
Good preparation for the BMW online assessment, the numerical and inductive parts in particular. The real one had an English language section which obviously this doesn't cover. Still good.
Ravi Chandran, Coventry
Philips graduate programme. Inductive reasoning section is what I came for. Six inductive and six diagrammatic tests here, did each twice. Real test was the same flavour of pattern questions. Through to the next round.

How the company hires, which tests to expect, how they are scored and how to prepare for them.
The Royal Navy hires in five stages, and the online tests are the second, straight after your application. Three more stages follow for the people who get through.
The tests are the one stage with nobody on the other side: a score decides who goes through. They are also the one stage you can rehearse beforehand, which is what the rest of this page is for.
What happens at each stage, the interviews and the assessment centre included, is on our page about the Royal Navy recruitment process.

Expect a numerical and a verbal reasoning test: they are the pair most large employers set. Many add a logical test, a situational judgement test or a personality questionnaire, and technical roles often bring a mechanical test.
We do not know the exact set the Royal Navy will send you: it changes with the role you applied for, and from one intake to the next. Your invitation email names each test and its publisher, so read it before you start practising. Our six packages cover every one of these kinds, and our page about the Royal Navy psychometric tests goes through each, the personality questionnaire included.

Your raw score is turned into a percentile: your place among everyone who has taken that test. A percentile of 80 means you did better than 80 in every 100 candidates in the comparison group. Employers rarely publish the percentile they cut at, and we do not know the one the Royal Navy uses.
Because the scale is relative, a couple more right answers near the middle of the group move you a long way up it. Our report gives you a percentile after every practice test, so you can watch yours climb.

Take as many practice tests as you can, and change the settings as you go. Start with the solutions showing, so every question you miss is explained on the spot.
Then switch the timer on, take away the option to skip, and add negative marking, so a wrong guess costs you a mark. After a few tests like that, the real Royal Navy test is one more run of something you have already done.

No. Real test questions are confidential and drawn from large banks, so nobody can give you the actual paper. Ours are written in the same formats, with the same kinds of question and similar time limits, which is what makes the real one feel familiar.
Yes. Numerical Reasoning Test 1 has 11 questions and a 20-minute limit, with solutions and a full report, and you can take it without an account.
Early: they are stage 2 of 5, straight after your application. The invitation usually arrives by email with a deadline a few days away, and you sit the tests at home.
