A short guide to the test: what it is, who uses it, the formats, the kinds of question, the scoring and how to prepare.
A logical reasoning test checks how well you can find a rule and apply it. Each question is a set of shapes that follow a hidden rule, and you choose the figure that fits.
No words and no sums are involved, so it measures reasoning, not what you have learned. Our logical package also covers two close relatives, each with its own page: inductive reasoning tests and diagrammatic reasoning tests.
They are set for jobs where problems arrive without instructions. SHL names sales, product development and research among the roles its test is used for, at every level.
Expect it soon after you apply: a link by email, and a few days to complete it. Our company pages list the hiring stages at each employer.
Publishers do not agree on a name: much the same test is sold as logical, inductive, abstract or diagrammatic reasoning. The lengths differ more: SHL asks 18 questions in 24 minutes and Cubiks 10 in 4.
Some tests adapt, giving you a harder question after each right answer, and some set a limit on every question. Our practice tests are fixed sets of five or ten questions, and the timer is yours to switch on or off.
Work out the pattern in a set of images and choose the next one. The test adapts to your answers.
A series of shapes with one missing. SHL has run the Kenexa tests since 2022, under the same name.
A time limit on each question, and no way back to it. A right answer brings a harder question.
The abstract part of a 12-minute test that also has verbal and numerical parts. Cubiks is now Talogy.
These are the usual formats: an adaptive test may stop before its last question. Your invitation states the time allowed. SHL, Kenexa, Talent Q and Cubiks are trademarks of their owners, who are not connected with this site.
Three types cover most of them. A series asks which figure comes next, a grid asks which figure fills the empty square, and a pair of blocks asks which group a picture belongs to.
In each one, look for what stays the same and what changes: position, direction, number, shape or shade. The hardest questions change two of them at once.
A fixed test counts your right answers. An adaptive one, such as SHL's, also takes into account how hard the questions you reached were.
Either way the result is a percentile: at the 80th, you did better than 80 in every 100 people who took the same test. Employers set their own pass marks, and our report shows your score, accuracy and percentile after every practice test.
Begin without the timer, and explain each answer to yourself before you open the solution. Where your reason and ours differ, read ours twice.
Then switch the timer on. If you are stuck after a minute, choose your best answer and move on: the next question may take ten seconds.

Logical Tests
Revolut
Revolut ops role had a logical test. Did the inductive and diagrammatic ones here for a week. Passed first go. Decent price too.

Logical Tests
Philips graduate programme. Inductive reasoning section is what I came for. Six inductive and six diagrammatic tests here, did each twice. Real test was the same flavour of pattern questions. Through to the next round.

Logical Tests
Logical
Good inductive and diagrammatic practice. The diagrammatic operators are explained well. Site is English only, fine for me but my friend struggled a bit with the explanations.

Logical Tests
Logical pack
The logical pack has three kinds, inductive, diagrammatic and logical reasoning. I did not know the difference before. Now I do, and I passed.

Logical Tests
Inductive reasoning
The inductive tests are good, the diagrammatic ones with the operators took me a while to get the hang of but that is the point I suppose. Would give 5 if there were a few more of the harder ones.

Gut für Siemens
Habe die logischen Tests für den Siemens Online Test genutzt. Die induktiven Aufgaben mit den Mustern waren fast identisch zum echten Test. Erklärungen sind auf Englisch, war für mich aber kein Problem. Klare Empfehlung.

No. A deductive test gives you arguments and scenarios in words and asks what follows from them. The tests on this page are about shapes, and you work the rule out yourself.
Not always. Talent Q, for one, moves you on when a question's time is up, with no way back. Our tests can be set either way, so practice both.
Yes. Its 16 tests are four logical, six inductive and six diagrammatic, and £9.99 covers them all.
No. Publishers do not release their questions, and an adaptive test picks different ones for each candidate. What carries over from practice is the habit of looking for the rule.
Yes. Logical Reasoning Test 1 has 5 questions and a 10-minute limit, with solutions and a full report. You do not need an account or a card.
16 timed tests with 110 questions, each with a step-by-step solution, and a report with your score, accuracy and percentile after every attempt. It costs £9.99 for 3 months unlimited access, no auto-renew.
Yes. Every paid plan has a 14-day money-back guarantee. If something is wrong with the platform or the tests, email us within 14 days of buying. If you have started no more than three tests in a package, or four on the All-in-One, we refund what you paid. Other conditions apply.
